You can extend the life of your pH electrode as follows:

1. Storage: The pH probe must be kept hydrated. Long periods of dry storage will harm the probe's sensitivity. Allowing the probe to dry may also cause deposits and clogging at its tip. Storing it in MA9015 storage solution or pH calibration buffers will help address both issues. Do not store in tap water or distilled water! This will damage the probe's sensitivity. The best way to store the probe is with the probe cap filled with storage solution or calibration buffer and the cap tightened to prevent leakage. It is also recommended that the electrode be stored upright to further reduce the potential for leakage.
2. Cleaning: Deposits on the probe tip from the mineral salts of the nutrient solution or from organic material can affect its sensitivity and clog it. We recommend regularly soaking your electrode in MA9016 cleaning solution.
3. Calibration: the glass tip of the pH probe becomes less sensitive over time, so make sure you calibrate regularly to keep your Milwaukee MC122 PRO pH Controller accurate. Also calibrate after cleaning or a long period of storage.
