Maintenance: EC electrodes can develop nutrient buildup over time. To minimise buildup, always rinse the probe in fresh tap water after each use!.
EC to TDS conversion: Milwaukee EC Pen, like all conductivity meters, measures electrically charged ions in a solution and provides an absolute measure of conductivity. EC is often converted to TDS in parts per million (ppm). Different scales include the 500 scale, 650 scale and 700 scale. However, true PPM can only be determined through chemical analysis. Your mS/cm reading can be approximately converted to TDS (ppm), as shown in the examples below.
- 2.00 mS/cm = 2000 µS/cm = 1000 ppm on the .50 factor scale
- 2.00 mS/cm = 2000 µS/cm = 1400 ppm on the 442 scale or .70 factor scale

You can extend the life of your pH electrode as follows:
- Storage: The pH probe must be kept hydrated. Long periods of dry storage will harm the probe's sensitivity. Allowing the probe to dry may also cause deposits and clogging at its tip. Storing it in MA9015 storage solution or pH calibration buffers will help address both issues. Do not store in tap water or distilled water! This will damage the probe's sensitivity. The best way to store the probe is with the probe cap filled with storage solution or calibration buffer and the cap tightened to prevent leakage. It is also recommended that the electrode be stored upright to further reduce the potential for leakage.
- Cleaning: Deposits on the probe tip from the mineral salts of the nutrient solution or from organic material can affect its sensitivity and clog it. We recommend regularly soaking your electrode in MA9016 cleaning solution.
- Calibration: the glass tip of the pH probe becomes less sensitive over time, so make sure you calibrate regularly to keep your Milwaukee MC122 PRO pH Controller accurate. Also calibrate after cleaning or a long period of storage.

- and conductivity are extremely important
- for professional gardeners and large-scale
growers. pH can affect plants' uptake of nutrients and water and reduce the effectiveness of fertilisers, herbicides and pesticides. Managing conductivity helps growers determine the precise fertiliser or other plant needs. Care and use: The MW802 PRO portable 3-in-1 meter includes both a pH and
EC sensor in the integrated SE600 probe. All pH sensors have a limited lifespan, and their response time becomes longer over time. EC sensors are more robust but can still be affected by residue build-up. Both require maintenance. Proper maintenance of your probe will give you fast, accurate results for longer. Here are our four top tips. Always store with the cap filled with buffer

Milwaukee EC45 PRO is a professional instrument for rapid measurement of electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS) and Conductivity Factor (CF) in nutrient solutions. Designed specifically for hydroponics, greenhouses, fertigation systems and professional horticulture, it provides instant measurements without calibration. Its IP67 waterproof housing floats on water and is suitable for daily use in reservoirs and mixing tanks.
Milwaukee EC45 PRO is designed for growers who want to monitor nutrient-solution concentration quickly and reliably. Maintaining the correct EC value is essential for optimal nutrient uptake and preventing plant deficiency or overfeeding. EC45 PRO measures EC, TDS (500 and 700 ppm scale) and CF, allowing use of the grower's preferred measurement system.
The instrument is exceptionally easy to use – simply immerse the measuring section in the solution. It has no buttons, switches on automatically when immersed and, once the reading stabilises, switches itself off after about 30 seconds, greatly extending battery life. The bright 24-LED indicator shows the measured value, battery status and warnings for values outside the measurement range.
Unlike standard EC testers, EC45 PRO is factory calibrated and does not require periodic user calibration. The graphite electrodes resist build-up, and the robust housing allows the instrument to be used as a stirring rod when preparing nutrient solutions. Thanks to automatic temperature compensation, readings remain accurate between 5°C and 50°C.

📋 Instructions for use
- Remove the protective cap.
- Immerse the electrode in the nutrient solution.
- Gently stir the solution with the instrument for an even measurement.
- Wait for the LED indication to stabilize.
- When finished, rinse the electrode with clean water.
- When necessary, clean the electrode periodically according to the manufacturer's instructions.
⚠️ Important: Although the EC45 PRO does not require calibration, the manufacturer recommends regular cleaning of the graphite electrodes to prevent salt and nutrient residue buildup, which can affect measurement accuracy.
💡 Urban Botaniks tip: Check the EC value daily, especially when growing hydroponically. This will help you maintain the optimal nutrient solution concentration, avoid salt buildup, and ensure maximum plant growth and yield.
