Reverse osmosis is a process that uses a semipermeable membrane to separate water into two solutions with different concentrations of dissolved substances. In this process, water with a high concentration of dissolved substances (such as salts, minerals and other contaminants) passes through the membrane toward an area with a lower concentration of dissolved substances. This occurs under osmotic pressure, which forces water through the membrane while leaving dissolved substances behind. The result is purified water that can be used for various purposes, such as drinking or manufacturing processes. The reverse-osmosis process requires special equipment, including reverse-osmosis systems and membranes, which ensure efficient, high-quality water purification.
