THE MOST POWERFUL AND INTELLIGENT LED LIGHTING FOR GROWING PLANTS ON THE MARKET! With these innovative LED fixtures, Dimlux sets the benchmark for horticultural lighting. With patented technology, advances in LED technology and an optimal thermal design, Dimlux Xtreme Series LED will be the preferred option, offering a significant return on investment for hobby and professional growers alike. Our adjustable spectrum for growing with PhytoVegSpec® +NIR Indoor combines complete control over the quality of light (spectral flexibility) and the quantity (intensity and DLI), ensuring uniform spreading and even distribution of light with extreme penetration into the crop.
- +NIR (NEAR INFRA-RED) (NEAR INFRARED 700-750NM = FAR RED). This lighting fixture has an amount of far-red light that is used together with red light. In addition, the far-red light provides a more complete spectrum, increased photosynthesis, increased photon absorption and higher yield due to adapted morphology. Due to the additional far-red component, plants will become slightly taller than with the version without +NIR.
- COLOUR IPS DISPLAY AND USER INTERFACE. The integration of a colour IPS screen and PhytoVegspec® makes the Xtreme series unique and special. Its special feature is that the spectra and the B:R (blue:red) ratio, or the amount of blue to red light, are displayed very accurately on the screen. Using this information, lighting recipes can be exchanged between growers and companies using values that are quantitatively measurable and therefore universally exchangeable. The values that can be controlled are the percentages of BLUE, GREEN and RED light, the B:R ratio, PPF, PPFD, DLI, power, the percentages of emitted light, plant temperature and air temperature.
- BUILT-IN OR EXTERNAL CONTROL. The lighting fixture can operate entirely independently and even serve as the main unit in a group with other lighting fixtures. They can also be controlled by external devices such as the Dimlux Maxi Controller or other controllers. Since the lighting fixture can be updated via Wi-Fi, it is possible to work according to the latest trends in lighting strategy and supplement the spectrum by adding additional lighting fixtures.
- DRIVERLESS DESIGN (ballast). The drivers that power the LEDs are integrated into the frame of the lighting fixture. Since high-voltage drivers are used, efficiency is particularly high and heat losses are therefore lower. This lower heat loss makes it possible to integrate the drivers into the frame.
- TILTED LENSES WITH DEEP PENETRATION AND ULTRA-HIGH TRANSMITTANCE. The tilted LED bars are designed to provide the ideal balance between light penetration and its even spread. At the recommended height above the crop, uniformity higher than 95% can be achieved when multiple lighting fixtures are used. Because the light from the lenses is focused, less scattered light is lost on walls and walkways. The patented ultra-high-transmittance lens is internally shaped in such a way that the light rays that would normally be reflected back towards the LED (converted back into heat) now end up right next to the LED and are reflected.
- ADDITIONAL LIGHT TUBE WITH FULL-COLOUR LEDs. Our lighting fixtures have unique additional lighting that is directed through lenses built into the light tube. The auxiliary lights consist of full-colour LEDs and serve as additional lighting, an alarm indicator, a plant-temperature indicator or night lighting, depending on the situation.
- SMART PORTS 3X. The Xtreme series has 3 available Smart ports. These are universal communication ports with various connection options for a wide range of sensors, such as a Plant Temperature Sensor, an Air Temperature Sensor, CO2 and humidity, as well as climate-control devices. Communication can be both analogue and digital through the Smart Protocol. It is possible to control up to 160 lighting fixtures via analogue communication and >1000 fixtures via the Smart Protocol.
- DOPPLER RADAR PROXIMITY SENSOR. The built-in Doppler radar sensor can detect movement up to 3 metres away. This sensor is used, for example, to activate the screen and for automatic activation of (green) additional lighting at night. The intensity and colour of the additional lighting can be adjusted so that the room can be entered at night without disturbing the plants' rhythm. Because the night lighting switches on only when movement is detected, it will not unnecessarily illuminate areas where it is not needed. The night lighting can be set to different intensities and colours, such as blue, which appears to have less effect on the sleep rhythm than green light, but to which human vision is less sensitive. The sensor will also be used to automatically switch off UV rays when the additional fixtures are used, preventing eye and skin damage.

The Dimlux temperature sensor enables the Dimlux Maxi Controller to dim the lights based on the ambient temperature in the grow room. If the set value is exceeded, the lights will dim to keep the temperature under control. If the temperature remains elevated despite dimming, half of the dimmed lights will be switched off in a checkerboard pattern. If the temperature continues to rise, all lights will be switched off for at least 20 minutes.

The Dimlux temperature sensor (for the Dimlux Maxi Controller) is an additional accessory that is absolutely essential for every professional indoor growing facility. The main function of this product is to provide accurate real-time data on the climate in the grow room back to the onboard computer of the Dimlux Maxi Controller. With this sensor, the lights can be dimmed according to temperature-specific data. This sensor is also required to calculate VPD* and potentially to activate heating or a heater.
- What is vapour pressure deficit (VPD)? Vapour pressure deficit is the difference between the water vapour pressure in 100% saturated air at a given temperature (the water vapour pressure in the leaves) and the actual water vapour pressure in the air. A high VPD value increases the plant's transpiration rate (the release of moisture through the leaves) and increases the movement of nutrients through the plant's xylem, while a low VPD value slows the movement of nutrients through the plant.
Forget about a distribution board, timer box and relays! Dimlux lighting fixtures can be plugged directly into the socket! Simply set the on and off times and your lighting is ready to operate!
Dimlux Maxi Controller is a modular control system for Dimlux lighting, fans and heating. It can control up to 160 Dimlux lighting fixtures or ballasts. You can set the desired brightness using the + and - buttons. - OPTIMAL CONTROL, MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY. Maxi Controller is a modular system* for controlling Dimlux lighting, fans and heating. It also controls and monitors CO2, vapour pressure deficit (VPD) and installation temperature, depending on the selected sensors. Maxi Controller can control up to 160 Dimlux Expert luminaires or Xtreme ballasts. It can silently switch the lighting on or off using the built-in timer. The lighting can also be variably dimmed to reach the desired output. The controller can adjust output according to the room temperature. The Dimlux lighting system dims automatically once a set temperature is exceeded. If the temperature is still too high, Maxi Controller will switch off all or half of the luminaires until the desired temperature is reached. Dimlux Expert luminaires or Xtreme ballasts can be connected directly to a power outlet. Simply set the on/off times and the system is ready to operate. The desired light intensity can be set with the + and – buttons. The Maxi Controller can also operate with asynchronous timing, for example 10 hours on and 10 hours off. This setting reduces total cycles by almost 20%. Sunrise and sunset can also be simulated. Maxi Controller also has a thermostat/hygrostat function. It is also possible to regulate the CO2 level in an enclosed room using an extremely accurate dual-beam CO2 sensor. This CO2 sensor can control CO2 generators and cold CO2 systems. *The controller can be expanded to include an AUX BOX, FAN/AUX BOX, CO2 sensor, CO2 Gas Protect sensor, plant-temperature camera, humidity sensor and temperature sensor (sold separately).
- COMPREHENSIVE AND PRECISE SETTINGS. In addition to the extensive 7 dimming levels, the Dimlux Maxi Controller can adjust light output according to room temperature. It also facilitates the transition from gradual dimming to continuously variable dimming, making it even easier to achieve the perfect lighting setting. This is possible by pressing the + and – buttons (brightness), or by setting the desired temperature and leaving the rest to the Dimlux Maxi Controller. When the preset temperature is exceeded, the lights automatically dim or are even partially switched off.
- SENSORS: MEASUREMENT = KNOWLEDGE. Several sensors are available that can be connected to the Dimlux Maxi Controller. Temperature sensor and humidity sensor can be combined with a plant-temperature sensor for optimal plant growth. The values obtained from the sensors are then analysed and combined to achieve the optimal relationship between temperature, humidity and plant temperature — and therefore vapour pressure deficit.
- SUNRISE AND SUNSET SIMULATION. Plants do not use photosynthesis until a certain temperature is reached. When lighting switches on after a dark period, this can be stressful and may affect growth; condensation may also form and cause rot. The Dimlux Maxi Controller can prevent this by slowly switching the Dimlux Expert lighting systems on and off, thereby simulating sunrise and sunset.
- DATALOG FUNCTION. The data-logging function makes it possible to store all measured values from the controller on a USB flash drive for later viewing in graphical form on your computer. The controller records all values to the flash drive every minute.
Dimlux Aux Box connects to the Dimlux Maxi Controller via the controller’s aux port, turning it into a fully automatic climate system. Dimlux Aux Box has two connections – one for a heater or heating unit and one for a humidifier or dehumidifier. Control is electronic and there is no annoying humming.
Plant temperature is more important than ambient temperature! When the camera is connected, the climate can be controlled based on plant temperature. If the plant temperature becomes too high, the Dimlux Maxi Controller will dim the lights to keep the stomata open. In the event of water shortage (e.g. due to a faulty pump), the lights are also dimmed or switched off to prevent crop damage.
- infrared camera for heat detection
- highly precise environmental control
- allows the Dimlux Maxi Controller to calculate VPD*
- used by the professional horticulture industry
- very easy to install – plugs directly into the Dimlux Maxi Controller
- 10m cable
*Note: see the detailed description for an explanation of vapour pressure deficit (VPD).
See how to calculate your plant's VPD: here*
Dimlux Plant Temperature Camera is a fantastic accessory that accurately measures your plant's infrared levels and sends the information back to the Dimlux Maxi Controller. This information is then used together with room temperature and humidity readings to calculate and display the vapour pressure deficit (VPD)* – the potential of the surrounding air to draw moisture from the plant. It gives the grower the most accurate information on how much the plants need to transpire (release moisture through their leaves) to reach equilibrium with the surrounding atmosphere. A high vapour pressure deficit means your plants will lose more water through their stomata. Low vapour pressure deficits mean plants retain water more easily (great for cuttings, etc.). The Dimlux Maxi Controller can regulate your lighting power according to the temperature difference between the plants and the surrounding atmosphere, ensuring that VPD levels are always within the correct range.
VPD (VAPOUR PRESSURE DEFICIT) VAPOUR PRESSURE DEFICIT. The plant temperature camera, connected to and integrated with the Dimlux Maxi Controller, measures the plant temperature and displays the results on the Dimlux Maxi Controller.
The question is: Why do we need a plant temperature camera at all?
The reason is that it is crucial for the Dimlux Maxi Controller to understand the plant's overall condition or health. The temperature of a healthy plant should always be lower than the ambient temperature in which it lives. Water and nutrients continuously move through the plant, keeping it cooler than its surroundings. If the plant temperature rises to the same temperature as the ambient air, it is no longer healthy and will begin to wilt and eventually die. Factors that contribute to this undesirable condition or environment include:
- High-intensity discharge lighting - HPS (sodium) or MH (metal-halide) lamps
- Lack of adequate extraction or ventilation
- Incorrect water supply to the plant.
- With the help and intelligence of the Dimlux Maxi Controller, the lights it controls are dimmed until the plant temperature falls below the ambient temperature and remain that way until the fault causing the temperature imbalance between the plant and the ambient air is resolved (for example, a plumbing or electrical fault).
- Now, with the plant temperature camera, the temperature sensor and the Dimlux humidity sensor, connected to and integrated with the Dimlux Maxi Controller, the controller is programmed to analyse the ambient temperature, plant temperature and humidity levels, and to calculate another vitally important measurement, described as “Vapour Pressure Deficit” or VPD. This measurement is an indicator that best describes the level of environmental support in which the plant lives.
- This environment is critical for optimal growth and nutrient uptake, and depends on how hot and humid it is. If the indoor environment is lit with HPS, MH or CDM lighting, and humidity is above 70 to 80% while temperatures are above 35°C, then the plants' ability to photosynthesise and to take up CO2 and to absorb nutrients decreases; consequently, the plants' ability to grow and produce flowers and fruit also decreases.
- Therefore, if the environment cannot be controlled or restored to normal conditions, your plants' ability to absorb nutrients and grow optimally will also be reduced. Consequently, reducing the light output and heat from HPS, MH or CDM lighting is the next logical step in balancing the parameters [heat and humidity] to maintain high photosynthetic activity and, more importantly, to keep the stomata in the leaves open.
- By keeping the stomata open for gas exchange, which is the main force driving water and nutrients through the plant, more sugars and amino acids are formed in the flowers/fruits for optimal production. This level of control is possible only with the Dimlux Maxi Controller and your Dimlux lighting. For greater flexibility in your indoor environment in relation to your lighting, the right control equipment is the key to consistently maximising the quality and yield potential of your plants and every harvest!
- The idea of VPD and its application is new, exciting and perhaps confusing to some. The idea, once again, is that if it is too hot or too humid for your plants to function optimally, why waste electricity on lights at full power when the plants cannot use the light, when we can balance heat and humidity by reducing lighting power and bringing the VPD reading to around 1 to 1.2?
- By doing this, the plants will use the nutrients you feed them, and therefore grow and produce optimally. Again, this is possible only with Dimlux lighting, Dimlux Maxi Controller and the plant temperature camera, the temperature sensor and the Dimlux humidity sensor. The same yields have been achieved even at 70% light output, simply because the other parameters were balanced and optimal VPD was achieved.
