Electrical conductivity (EC) meters must be calibrated regularly. Follow the instructions supplied with the meter. After use, always rinse the probe with clean water and dry it with a tissue.
The Bluelab Truncheon EC meter does not require calibration! However, it should be checked regularly with this solution. If the reading is low or different from 2.76 mS/cm, the probe tip must be cleaned carefully; also check the batteries.

3. Carefully clean the glass membrane without applying excessive pressure.

1. Unscrew the old probe from the Bluelab OnePen.
2. Install the new replacement probe.
3. Calibrate the probe with pH 7.0 and pH 4.0 buffer solutions.
4. Rinse the probe with clean water after every use.
5. Always store the electrode in the included KCl Storage Solution when the instrument is not in use.

⚠️ Important: The average service life of the probe is approximately 18 months, depending on use and maintenance. Regular cleaning, proper storage and periodic calibration can significantly extend its lifespan. The probe comes with a 6-month limited warranty.

💡 Urban Botaniks tip: If you notice slower stabilisation of readings or difficulties calibrating the Bluelab OnePen, the most common cause is a worn probe. Replacing it restores the factory measurement accuracy and is a significantly more economical solution than buying a new instrument.

It keeps the sensitive membrane constantly hydrated, prevents it from drying out and helps maintain the accuracy and long service life of pH measuring instruments.

Proper storage of the pH probe is an essential part of its maintenance. If the glass electrode dries out, its sensitivity gradually decreases, leading to inaccurate measurements, slower response and a shorter service life. Water Master pH Probe Refill & Storage Solution was developed specifically to prevent this problem by keeping the electrode constantly hydrated and ready for use.

The solution is suitable both for storage and for topping up electrolyte in compatible refillable pH probes. After measurement, the electrode should be rinsed with clean or distilled water, then the protective cap should be filled with a small amount of the KCl solution so that the probe tip remains constantly moist.

📋 Instructions for use

1. Connect the MA840 probe to the instrument.
2. Remove the protective cap and make sure the membrane is clean and filled with electrolyte.
3. Calibrate the instrument according to the manufacturer's instructions.
4. Immerse the probe in the solution being measured and wait for the readings to stabilize.
5. After measurement, rinse the probe with clean water.
6. Store the probe with the protective cap fitted and periodically check the condition of the membrane and electrolyte.

⚠️ Important: For maximum accuracy, the manufacturer recommends regular calibration, periodic membrane replacement and topping up the electrolyte when needed. A damaged or contaminated membrane can lead to inaccurate measurements.

You can extend the life of your pH electrode as follows:

1. Storage: The pH probe must be kept hydrated. Long periods of dry storage will harm the probe's sensitivity. Allowing the probe to dry may also cause deposits and clogging at its tip. Storing it in MA9015 storage solution or pH calibration buffers will help address both issues. Do not store in tap water or distilled water! This will damage the probe's sensitivity. The best way to store the probe is with the probe cap filled with storage solution or calibration buffer and the cap tightened to prevent leakage. It is also recommended that the electrode be stored upright to further reduce the potential for leakage.
2. Cleaning: Deposits on the probe tip from the mineral salts of the nutrient solution or from organic material can affect its sensitivity and clog it. We recommend regularly soaking your electrode in MA9016 cleaning solution.
3. Calibration: the glass tip of the pH probe becomes less sensitive over time, so make sure to calibrate regularly to keep your meter accurate. Also calibrate after cleaning or a long period of storage.

📋 Instructions for use
