AutoPot Modules

The AutoPot 1Pot module can be used for plants of any type and size. The AutoPot 1Pot module is easy to expand, as many pots can be connected to one reservoir.

Gravity pressure is all that is required from the water reservoir or barrel. The systems are undoubtedly among the easiest to use and can be left unattended for weeks, thanks to the ability of the AQUAvalve valve to deliver everything the plant requires. AutoPot 1Pot modules can be connected to build even larger systems. See the advice section for more information or download the 1pot System Guide*.

1Pot is the modular irrigation system from AutoPot, enabling gardeners and commercial growers to achieve remarkable yields from their plants. Whether at home, in the garden, greenhouse or polytunnel, 1Pot will expand to create a system of unlimited scale thanks to its modular design. The 1Pot systems remain flexible even after installation, and the modules can be moved to suit the changing needs of the grower and their plants. Like all AutoPot irrigation systems, 1Pot uses AQUAvalve valve for simple, efficient feeding and irrigation of edible or ornamental plants. Once assembled, the reservoir is filled with water and liquid fertiliser (if necessary), and the 1Pot system will fully take care of all your feeding needs, providing them with fresh, balanced nutrition throughout their life cycle.

The pots and trays can easily be moved as desired; if the plants become too large, they can be spaced further apart with ease. All you need to do is remember to refill your reservoir from time to time. Reservoirs and filters are sold separately.

The AQUAvalve valve is supplied with all AutoPot watering systems. Once connected to the water supply, the AQUAvalve valve controls the flow of water to the plants through simple gravity pressure from the reservoir or water tank; no pumps, mains water pressure, electricity or timers are required. Once connected to the reservoir, the AQUAvalve valve opens and allows water to fill the tray to a preset level of 20mm. The AQUAvalve valve does not refill the tray until all the water has been used.

The AQUAvalve valve...how does it work?

 

The AQUAvalve valve is a simple but highly effective irrigation device, but it must be handled with care. Keep the AQUAvalve valve and the tray in which it is located clean and free from blockages and soil particles, and you will be able to water and feed your plants for many years. The AQUAvalve valve has a 12-month warranty.

The AQUAvalve valve is supplied with all AutoPot systems. Once connected to the water supply, the AQUAvalve valve controls the flow of water to the plants through simple gravity pressure from the reservoir/nutrient tank; no pumps, mains water pressure, electricity or timers are required. Once connected to the reservoir, the AQUAvalve valve opens and allows water to fill the tray to the preset level of 20 mm. When the level is reached, the AQUAvalve valve shuts off and prevents further water from entering the tray until all water has been consumed by the plants.

 

Tip: Remember to set the AQUAvalve valve before use. When connecting 6mm or 16mm pipe, always ensure that the pipe end is first immersed in warm water; this will make connection much easier.

 

When all water has been consumed and the tray is empty, the AQUAvalve valve opens again and allows a new quantity of water to enter the tray. As the plants grow larger, the AQUAvalve valve opens and closes more frequently and operates according to the plants' needs, filling the tray and then allowing it to empty completely before refilling, enabling the plants to go through a wet and dry cycle. At AutoPot we call this technology PCI, or "Plant Controlled Irrigation".

 

The AutoPot AQUAvalve valve cover, used together with the AQUAvalve valve, allows the grower to create their own basic but highly effective hobby irrigation system. Only a flat tray of any shape or size is required. The user simply places the AQUAvalve valve in the tray and places the AutoPot AQUAvalve valve covera over it. Ensure that the small opening at the top of the AutoPot AQUAvalve valve covera is not blocked.

 

Tip: Keep the tray and the AQUAvalve valve clean and free from contact with loose growing medium; use a small brush to remove any adhering soil from the sides and bottom of the pots before placing them in the tray.

 

 

Once the reservoir is filled with water or liquid fertiliser, it begins to travel through the pipe from the reservoir. It passes through the AQUAvalve nozzle (1) and into the tray. As the tray fills (2) with water, air is trapped inside the main body and around the "inner float", causing it to rise (3).

As the water level rises in the tray, the "upper float surface" rises (1), releasing trapped air in the main body (2).
This in turn allows the "inner float" to rise and shut off the supply (3). The water level is now 20mm.

The planted plants begin to reduce the water level in the tray (1). As the water level falls, the "upper float" closes, creating a vacuum inside the "main body" of the AQUAvalve valve (2).
This vacuum traps water inside the "main body" and in turn holds the "inner float" up, shutting off the incoming water (3).

When the water level in the tray has been completely depleted (1), the surface tension around the main body of the AQUAvalve valve breaks; this may take up to 30 minutes. While this happens, all water trapped in the "main body", keeping the "inner float" (2) raised and the water supply shut off, is released, allowing the "inner float" to drop and open the water supply.

The AutoPot 1Pot XL system is extremely versatile and can be used for a wide range of plant types and sizes. Seasonal flowering plants and perennial shrubs thrive and produce an abundance of flowers and foliage due to the unique action of the AQUAvalve valve, which is designed to allow the plant to go through a wet and dry cycle.

A key component in the easy2GO kit. The AutoPot AQUAvalve valve cover, used together with the AQUAvalve valve, allows the grower to create their own simple yet highly effective hobby system.

All that is needed is a shallow tray of any shape or size. The user simply places the AQUAvalve valve in the tray and fits the AutoPot AQUAvalve valve cover over it. The cover is made from heavy-duty composite material, so no weight is needed to hold it in place. Then simply connect the AQUAvalve valve to a reservoir using 6mm tubing and a filter. Ensure that the pot is no smaller than 5 litres. If you use small pots, you risk drowning the plants. A small plant in a small pot will not appreciate sitting in deep water, as its root system will be unable to breathe; this does not apply to bog or carnivorous plants. If you intend to grow carnivorous plants with this method, please use rainwater only.

📋 Instructions for use

1. Turn off the water supply to the AutoPot system.
2. Install the AQUAvalve5 in the relevant tray according to the instructions.
3. Place the Root Control Disc and Matrix Disc at the bottom of the pot.
4. Connect the supplied 6 mm pipe to the existing irrigation line using the included connectors.
5. Check all connections for a proper seal.
6. Fill the reservoir and test system operation before placing the plants.

⚠️ Important: The kit is intended for AutoPot 1Pot systems with 6 mm pipework. Before purchasing, check which type of pipe system you use to ensure full compatibility.

💡 Urban Botaniks tip: When replacing the AQUAvalve, it is advisable to replace the Root Control Disc at the same time, especially if the system has operated for several seasons. This will ensure trouble-free operation and prevent roots from reaching the valve.

 

AQUAbox Straight is designed to supply water and nutrients to plants of any type and size grown directly in soil.
AQUAbox Straight is attached to a single capillary wick that distributes water below the soil over an area of up to 4 square metres. With an AQUAvalve valve at its base, AQUAbox Straight draws from the water supply (water reservoir) only as much as the plants need, ensuring incredibly efficient water use. Plant roots instinctively grow towards the water source, attaching to the capillary wicks below soil level.
