Cochlearia is a plant from the horseradish family. It is known for its high vitamin C content, which is why it has been used to treat scurvy. In addition to its medicinal properties, the leaves have a slightly spicy taste and are good addition to salads. The flowers attract bees and other pollinators.

Sowing period: It requires a temperature of around 15^oC to germinate and is therefore best sown in the spring or autumn months.

How to grow: Cochlearia is relatively easy to grow. In nature, it is found along the coasts and in the mountains, on rocks and stony beaches. Prefers a cooler climate. Tolerates saline and not particularly rich in nutrients soils. Grows along lye-salted intercity roads. In the garden it can be sown thickly, formed in flower beds.
